Course Background

In the development of monolithic blockchains, we are faced with challenges in scalability. The entire blockchain industry is actively discussing how to make the blockchain carry a wider range of applications and attract more users. In 2022, Ethereum released a much-anticipated development roadmap centered on Rollups, indicating that Ethereum is moving towards a modular layered design architecture.

Under this modular design, Ethereum's Layer 1 will focus on ensuring data availability and consensus security, while moving more computational tasks off-chain for execution. By separating the execution layer, we can also overcome some of the limitations of the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), providing more room for innovation.
Therefore, we hope to deeply study the modular design of blockchain technology and explore how to overcome challenges in scalability and performance through the modular blockchain co-learning event.

You will understand the application of zkWasm technology, comprehend the importance of modular design, and how to use ZK virtual machines to enhance the execution capability of blockchain based on the modular blockchain. We will also jointly study the latest upgrades such as zkOracle and EIP-4844.。
